Porteau Cover – November 27

Beautiful dive in Porteau Cove, British Columbia.

Weather was normal(grey), but the underwater world was awesome, as usual! Many lingcods, but today’s dive had some great nudibranchs.

I had been out here last week and got some of the nudibranchs, but felt I could get some better shots. Worked out pretty well I think (I had to save the best footage).

Man Trip 2011: Dive @ HMCS Saskatchewan, Nanaimo BC

This video depicts a dive on the HMCS Saskatchewan. I have done this dive many times and never brought my camera with me (normally I am teaching).

We spend a good 45 minutes on the deck exploring. It is insane how many Plumose Anemones complete covered the deck. We lucked out with the visibility. If the sun would have been out I could have taken video of the complete super structure.

Overall this was a great dive, we saw Cabazon’s and Decorated Warbonnets which I was not able to take video of. For some reason they never sit still when you want them to. I give this dive 4 stars out of 5

A stubby squid

This is an encounter with a stubby squid. In my ten years of diving in BC I have maybe seen 5 or 6.

When Sea Lions Attack

On the weekend of March the 5th we wend to Hornby Island to get married. Honrby Island diving is one of our favorite places in the world.

After the wedding and most people had gone home my wife Carrie and our good friend Colin and Marcos did a dive with the Sea Lions. This is always the highlight of our dive year.

Diving with Sea Lions is like diving with playfull dogs. The only difference is that Sea Lions are bigger and you have about 20 of them that want to use you as a toy.
