Joe Romeiro burst into the world of underwater videography with a huge splash in 2009 with “Death of a Deity,” a short film about shark conservation, which won multiple awards throughout the year. Joe is quickly becoming a well-known figure within the community and is one of those people everyone should keep an eye on. He has recently released some great videos and is sure to have some phenomenal material in the future. Joe currently lives in Rhode Island but travels quite frequently to do what he loves most: shooting underwater video of sharks. 333 Joe has followed “Death of a Deity” with his latest short film, “A Lateral Line.” This film is an excellent demonstration of the majestic beauty of pelagic sharks and the plight in which they find themselves. Largely due to mankind’s overfishing in general and irresponsible handling of sharks in particular, many shark species now face certain extinction if nothing is done to help them. It is films like these that will help the general public understand that not all sharks can successfully exist in captivity, and that the survival of the shark rests largely on our shoulders.
