CANOPUS EDIUS 4 REVIEW

Editing DV

For editing DV, the performance is much better with Edius and I'm looking forward to a faster CPU so I can edit HDV like I can DV. So how much DV can it handle in realtime?... Well I had one video track with colour correction & slow motion, then added 4 more video tracks in pips with a title and soundtrack all playing back in real time. So with a Core2 Duo I should be able to double that performance! Bring it on!

  • One Video Track with Colour Correction and Slow Mo
  • 4 x Video Tracks in PIPS
  • One Title

Editing in DV Edius real flies and it's very responsive and I tried my hardest to crash it but it just wanted to work.

You can even mix a 1440/1080/50i clip in the timeline giving you the option of zooming right in on certain areas due the higher resolution of 1080i. You could in fact get 3 or 4 different camera angles from the one clip.

Adding Real Time TitleMotion Titles Was A Snap And So Was Keyframing 3D PIPS

Mixing audio tracks can be done by keyframing on the audio track itself or by using the Audio Mixer and takes a bit of practice to master. I also imported Photoshop files straight into Edius and put them on the timeline and even keyframed them around the place no problems.

Once you have a photoshop file on the timeline, any changes you make to it in photoshop, after you have saved it the changes are applied to the file on the timeline.
